Specific focus points of the project is Biodiversity – public awareness and volunteers training.
Public awareness on the importance of biodiversity is crucial for its effective protection, for preventing the degradation of ecosystems and supporting sustainable development. Target 1 of the Strategic plan for biodiversity 2011-2020 stipulates “By 2020, at the latest, people are aware of the values of biodiversity and the steps they can take to conserve and use it sustainably”. EU biodiversity Strategy to 2020 sets biodiversity targets.
The aim of the project is to increase public awareness on biodiversity The project is expected to contribute in the process of better informing general public in Bulgaria on the importance of biodiversity and the steps to protect it.
The project outputs are as follows: „Biodiversity”section on the popular and influential website www.dnevnik.bg ; One special edition on biodiversity and); One competition campaign; 20 trained volunteers. The total project cost amounts to EUR 27 011. The maximum grant envisaged is EUR 23 982.
